I don't think that Superman would have as much respect if he had to flap his arms to fly.

Hah! His cape would probably get wrapped around his arms thereby making him flap more frantically...and then...well, we won't go there. Poor Superman!

Hah! His cape would probably get all wrapped around his arms thereby disabling him. Poor Superman!! But he just wouldn't look right without a cape. Oh yeah, what the hell is the cape supposed to do anyways. Does it work like airplane flaps? I don't think so!!
