Alien Encounter

Last night I woke up around 3:00am because I was being scanned by aliens. Okay, well, that was the first thing that popped into my head. There was a beeping sound coming from outside and I was vibrating or resonating or something as I lay in bed. As the beeping got louder, the vibrating worsened. Then it would get quieter and the vibrating would lessen. The whole thing probably only lasted for less than a minute. The vibrating was weird — maybe vibrating isn't the best word. It felt more like all the molecules in my body were electrified, but it wasn't painful.

So, admittedly there is a more than likely chance that I dreamed this; it happened in the middle of the night, the facts of it are already fading from my memory, I didn't get up to investigate or turn on the light, and it's pretty unusual. But it was pretty real feeling. Normally, when I dream, there are many weird little inconsistencies, like I'm living in a different house or I'm trying to read something and it keeps changing. However, I distinctly remember waking up in my own bed right when it started to happen and looking at the clock when it was over, just as if it were an earthquake (I checked earthquake activity for last night and there wasn't any).

I stayed awake for a while after it happened, listening. But I don't think I remained awake for long.

Brina had been sleeping in my bed that evening, but she had gotten up sometime before that and gone to her bed. Too bad she wasn't there for the whole night — I probably would have woken her up to see if she had felt anything. I asked her this morning if she had experienced anything unusual in her room, but she hadn't.

Maybe the raccoons are testing a new bread-stealing technology.

This one time, at my old place, I woke up and heard this weird humming coming from underneath the floor, like a big machine or a car or something in the basement below me. When I moved from side to side the humming got quieter and when I got up and moved to another room it was quieter still. When I got back into bed it was louder. Then after a few minutes it stopped and I never heard it again.

I vote aliens.
